I have been studying this carefully for weeks, reading stuff all over. I'm an electrician but I'm new to all this wind and solar stuff. It is really neat and I find myself really interested in electricity for the first time in years. I have concluded that in Oklahoma is great for wind and good for solar. I think the solar costs more for the amount of power you get and I'm going to start out without the solar and maybe add that later. If I were to add more money I think I would just add another windmill on the roof because it seems like a better and faster payback. I'm a working electrician and don' make much money so I'm going to start out as cheap as I can.

I'm thinking also that OFF-Grid is the way for me. Not because I'm in the woods and don't have Utility Power, but because the permitting and rules are not good enough to make it worth generating EXTRA electricity. Here in Oklahoma like many other states the Utility Companies are buying influence in our government and they are shaping the policies against home wind and solar generation. One thing I like about WindEnergy7 is that the guy really knows what's going on and has helped me to know also. I just joined this forum and am excited to have a place to ask my questions and talk to others. Anybody want to talk on here then let's do it bbecause I am dying to kick this stuff around specifically about small home wind and solar. I love this stuff and it's really exciting.

So my goal with my new system will be to power a portion of my home on a dedicated circuit. The cost is lower to install and every kWh will be saving me a FULL RETAIL amount. This way my system should pay itself off sooner than if I put in a really big one. I am thinking about 2 or 3 turbines running 50 to 75% of my home's power will be nice.

On this circuit I think I'm putting my refrigerator, outdoor lighting, and washing machine. I'm thinking about putting in a secondary, small hot water tank and put a 24v element in it, wired to the dump load controller (charge controller). Anybody thought of doing that? I also saw these 24v refrigerators that really look cool to me.
